I have been a CNA for over 9 years, I love taking care of the eldery, I love hearing the stories growing up, plus trying to help them be as independent as possiable. They can make you feel apart of their family, even though they say dont come attached to them but if you dont then there is something wrong.

Greetings~

I have been a caregiver, off and on, for over 30 years and obtained my CNA this past summer, (09). I knew that I wanted to work with the elderly since I was fourteen years of age.

I currently work for two agencies, mainly, for clients, on Hospice, in their homes. I also work several hours a week in an Alzheimer’s facility, for one of my companies.

I absolutely love my job and nothing gives me more satisfaction knowing that I am working, as a team with nursing staff, to help make our clients as comfortable and dignified as possible in their final stages of living.

Caregiving is also about being there for the client’s family and friends. The extra care, that we caregivers provide, brings much comfort, for family and friends, to an already stressful situation.

Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your very important research program.

I have been a "caregiver" since I was 13 years old and my mother and my younger sisters and I were in a car accident. That entire summer I stated at the hospital with my mother each day and I knew then I wanted to care for people. Throughout the years I have always been a taking care of everything and everyone but a year and a half ago I decided to officially become a C.N.A. I work privately for a wonderful group of men and women that show me so may different experiences in and of life that if will always treasure and I have learned so much by these people in my life.

I've been a CErtified Nurse since 1992 until today.
Work exprience: I do on call duty for weekend at the Temple Community Hospitaladn also private duty and visiting. where I meet different kind of patients that I need to prepared myself how to deal each one of them after greeting,Face expression: SMILE,I must practice the way of look, listen and then talk, also show the TLC (tender, love & care)by touching their hands gently. spicially when I do private duty, that on weekend, is to make the day as a joyful family day for her, open your heart and she will open her heart to you too. talk about yourself first. that she feel comfortable to speak to you where I can learn more about her. like valentine's day is coming, I will buy same craft& material, I let her watch I do, that way she will joint me and be part of the project -craft card. then I will ask, when she was young how she celebrate this day. you don't even know,as you look at the window it getting dark already, another challenge day is awaiting for me.
